So today we turned our final paper in and got to play a review game.  It was helpful just to hear some of the questions that might be asked on the final.  Some of them i thought were pretty hard, and i had no idea what the answer was.  Then there were some that were no brainers to me, but i couldnt get my hand up fast enough.  I think the MLA will be easier than in the game because we wont have to memorize what Dr. AC is saying while trying to write it i correct form.  I am really worried about the essay portion because writing about pop culture didnt work for the me first time and i dont want to make the same mistakes twice.  I feel like if the multiple choice is mostly what the review is over then i shouldnt have a problem with that part.  Well good luck everyone on the final!

So today we were able to peer edit our papers which was a big help because i made some mistakes.  I like how you can get more than just one persons opinion on the stuff you write.  Its a nice way to help out fellow classmates and to have a different set of eyes reading your paper then giving you advise on it.  The final is starting to worry me, and its not that i think it will be hard, its just the whole taking finals thing that gets me.  I just get so worried that i will totally blank out on some easy questions, or i will get writers block and not be able to write a good essay.  Well its time to start working on that review so il see everyone on thursday!

MLA
We also went over how to correctly cite our sources, which is a good thing because i made a few mistakes on the paper but now i know what i did wrong. Im glad AC explained it for the entire second part of class so we had more time to ask questions and understand it more clearly. Im alittle worried about that part of the final about the MLA because its something that you can mess up on very easily. There are so many things you have to pay attention to while correctly citing sources, and I dont like how one little period mistake can mess up the whole citation. And Dr. AC it wouldnt make sense for you to be the mayor of Shuntown because you put us in Shuntown to get away from us.....that means if you shun us then it doesnt matter we can still talk to you because being our mayor means you reside in Shuntown and while in Shuntown you can only talk to other Shuntownians which means we can still talk to you...therefore you cannot be our mayor!

Today we were discussing the Vietnam war and how we were losing the battle because of the gorilla warfare being used. I cant stand it when i hear about soldiers that just got back from the war alive and as soon as they get home they get spit on or yelled at for what they did. This makes me mad because over there you didnt know who your enemy was. They all looked pretty much the same and sometimes you would walk into a village and people that you thought were civilians would open fire on you. So people treating those soldiers badly just ticks me off. In class today we also were given the review sheet for the final, and thank you Gunderson and AC because thats a big help.

Well today was one of the more interesting days of class because we spent a lot of time talking about conspiracy theories. I think well i know this paper will be the most interesting because we get to choose the conspiracy we want to research. Its going to be fun to read some of these papers and find out more about certain conspiracies. We also got our test and paper back today and well i did just like i figured i would. I made some stupid mistakes but i always make stupid mistakes, so that didnt bother me. I was wondering on what will we see the extra points that we received from the cultivating scholars thing? Anyway the semester is coming to a close and i should probably make sure im caught up on my posts!

Ok im going to say that this field trip to the 6th Floor beats any other field trip iv ever been on, which means it beats the 5th grade trip to the zoo!! Going around and being able to listen to someone talk you through the whole exhibit was really cool. Actually being able to see where the shooter was positioned was just amazing. The 7th floor part i would have to say was my favorite, with that video when Oswald was shot and how that cameraman was able to snap that picture right as the shot was fired. I think the whole museum was set up very well. The only thing that surprised me was how easy that shot was from the window,  I mean did the secret service really not have a clue and think to check out all the buildings to make sure this kinda thing wouldnt happen??? The overall experience was awesome and i would like to go back again and take the tour over.

Today in class we were talking about Nixon and JFK. I always thought Nixon was way older than JFK but Professor Gunderson said they were actually pretty close in age. I couldnt believe the pictures of him before he was what everyone pictures him. Then we started talking  about the JFK assassination and how there are so many theories about it. I dont like it when people dont like me, but i couldnt imagine how many people might have wanted JFK dead. This field trip should be really interesting and i cant wait until thursday. I wanted to get some of my grades back today but after what AC said at the end of class, maybe i dont. Well il see everyone at the 6th floor!!

Ok so today we presented our project over woodstock, and i think it went really well. I didnt realize how long we were up there for, and i just hope we dont get counted off to much for it. We had more clips and interesting stuff that we just didnt have time for, but i feel like we did pretty good. My favorite part of the whole thing would probably be the clip of Jimi Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner. That was really amazing and actually a blast to watch. Our group had a misunderstanding about this cultivating scholar thing, we thought that you could send one person as a representative to the deal and everyone would get credit. This was the way i feel it should be because not everyone could attend due to other responsibilities and stuff. Owell i hope everyone enjoyed our presentation

Today the presentations started, and the people that went today did a great job. I really liked the Star Wars presentation because thats a very interesting topic to me. Once again Courtney's video was funny and a very good representation of what that time period was like. The Mickey Mouse presentation had a lot of interesting facts that I never knew. I cant wait until the field trip we get to go on, I have never been to the sixth floor museum so im excited. My group has just a few more things to add to the project and then it will be done. Im waiting for thursday so I can just get it over.

Test
Today we had to take our test and I didnt think it was to hard. The multiple choice was very easy i thought, and i only struggled with one of the short answer questions. The only thing that I will be worried about is if I answered the short answers exactly right and i didnt get off topic. Sometimes I do that and I dont even realize it, but all and all I think i did ok. Now i have finished all my research for the project and I have found some pictures, so all that needs to be done now is for everyone to get together and put everything together.

Test
Well the test has snuck up on me, mainly because I have 5 other classes that im trying to manage and I have 3 other tests in the next 2 days. Once again Im very happy that Dr. AC and professor Gunderson made that review sheet because those are always a big help. Im also thankful that our paper will count towards the test and that its not due on the test day. Hopefully I will do pretty good on this test just because its covering my favorite subject, which I know more about than any other subject. Now im thinking about our projects and how quick those are going to be due, so i need to finish up my research soon. I know all the projects are going to be interesting so I cant wait until I can see them. Goodluck to everyone on the test and with your projects!!

Today we started talking about the Cold War that if any actions had been made, it would have turned into WWIII. As we were talking about the race to build the atomic bomb, then to building the satellites, then Gunderson said there was a hydrogen bomb.... Thats when i started thinking about what that might be like. I was under the impression that the atomic bomb was the biggest baddest bomb there was. I have heard about the H bomb alittle bit but I havent really put any thought into it until now. If the hydrogen bomb is better than the atomic bomb and the atomic bomb was so destructive, what is the H bomb like???

today we were discussing the end of WWII and how the US used the atomic bomb on Japan...twice. I feel like this was a good decision on the US's part because this really sent everyone else a message of dont screw with us. I understand how it was better to use the bomb other than go and invade because in an invasion both sides suffer losses, by dropping the bombs we take out all of our losses. Sometimes i wonder how the war would of gone had we not dropped the bombs. It would have been better if Japan would have listened to the Soviets when they said to stop, but since they didnt listen we were able to destroy everything just like what we said would happen if Japan didnt stop.

today we were able to peer edit our papers and that helps only if you are good at writing. Since Im not all that good at writing im not very good at correcting peoples mistakes since i really cant even correct mine. I did my best on whoevers papers i did edit but before you go and start making changes you should make sure what i corrected is actually correct. I would hate to have suggested something to someone and they change it to what I said then come to find out what they had was actually better than what I suggested. I hope this makes sense to someone. Now i think kelsey was talking about another field trip we might be going on, and i would just like to say that going to the Amon Carter was a lot of fun, and i hope we do get to go on another trip. Well back to making changes on my paper, il see everyone thursday.

I finished watching Saving Private Ryan and well....it was nothing like I thought it would be. I couldnt believe the first 30 minutes of the movie was all about the Americans just getting mowed down by the german machine guns. I knew that there would a lot of shooting and killing but i didnt think it would take up a whole half hour at the very beginning!! Then with the search and rescue mission, that was very interesting and i feel that Tom Hanks did a very good job with his role. Normally im pretty good at guessing whats going to happen in movies but this one I was not even close. It was a very good and moving film and I would recommend that anyone who hasnt seen it to take the time and rent it.

WWII
We finally started talking about WWII in history, I thought it would never come. I find that WWII is the most interesting thing to study in history because it really didnt happen that long ago. Im also interested in it because like I said a while ago my grandpa flew planes in WWII so i was always asking him to tell me his war stories. So i guess maybe I just like the war parts because thats were all the action takes place. WWII wasnt that long ago so most of the tactics and other than for upgrades and stuff the weapons are the same, so I can really imagine how things were. I have a hard time putting myself back when the civil war was and how the fighting tactics were, for example that doesnt make sense to me to have one row of one side and one row of the other side step forward and take shots at each other, that just is retarded to me. Thats probably the main reason why i love to hear about WWII because we still fight like that in the wars that are going on now.

So today after our long lecture on the start of WWII we went to the library to learn how to use the databases for our projects. My first thought was..awesome we get to sit there while we watch someone show us how to use something that we used last semester, but it actually was very helpful. The librarian had already done some research on all of our topics!! Then when she passed around that sheet I noticed that she had written the certain databases that our own topics were best found!! That was so nice of her to take the time to help us out on our soon to be very stressful projects. Im glad there are people out there like her that are willing to help students out any way they can.

Ok so i started looking at which movie I want to watch and then write a paper about, and i think i have settled on Saving Private Ryan. I picked Saving Private Ryan well because I have never seen it, I dont know how iv never seen it but i really never had the opportunity. Im alittle confused on what we are exactly writing this paper on. I know its about the movie and discussing the theme but what would be a good example of symbolism?? Does that mean if we see something that sticks out we should write on why we think this certain thing sticks out? I dont know im just alittle confused, and I dont want to write the wrong thing and fail. Now looking at the length and how it has to be atleast 3 pages is no big deal because its a movie and there will be a lot to write about, well hopefully.

Well I tried to read howl and uhhh i couldnt finish it just like how I couldnt finish the wasteland. It reminded me of the wasteland because I couldnt understand it. The only difference I noticed between the wasteland and howl was that in howl most of the words that were used i knew what they meant and it was just written more in everyday language. Im going to have to have someone explain this one to me because i just dont have a clue. Whatever happend to the easy reading stuff, just because we are now in college doesnt mean we have to take all the fun and understandable stuff out of the curriculum. Maybe its just me but some of the stuff we read just goes right over my head, does anyone else feel the same way?

today in class we were talking about FDR and the New Deal. It was amazing to hear that FDR won 523 electoral votes over the other guy who i cant remember his name owell. Then hearing that the other guy ( you can tell that I dont have my notes infront of me) tried to use the New Deal and said that he could make it better... What an idiot!!!!  if anyone can help me out and tell me what that guys name was that would be great. We were given our tests back today and well I did way better than I thought I did. I totally dominated the essay and yes I am bragging because if anyone has ever read one of my papers they suck, so i am very pumped on how I did. I only missed a few on the multiple choice and I think two on the short answer, and well i didnt even attempt to answer #3 about the wasteland so that hurt me. Well thats all I have to say today so il see everyone thursday!
